St. LOUIS, Mo.—Using a rifle with a scope is a very a useful asset for deer hunting, greatly increasing accuracy and range for taking a safe and effective shot.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is presenting a virtual Rifle Scope Mounting class on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 5 – 7 p.m. This is a free program open to all ages.
This class addresses the questions that new rifle scope owners are likely to have regarding properly mounting and settting up their scopes. It will teach the basics of scope mounting, like proper mounting techniques and the tools needed to do the job correctly.
“With deer season approaching, proper scope mounting can save a lot of time sighting your rifle in and preparing for the hunt,” said MDC Outdoor Education Center Manager, Bryant Hertel.
Hertel said employing the steps outlined in this program will prevent potential alignment issues that could cause a scope to be inaccurate when used in the field.
There will be a Q&A period after the program.
The Rifle Scope Mounting class is a free online event, but advanced online registration is required by going to http://short.mdc.mo.gov/oGN. A Webex link for this program will be sent by email the day of the event. Attendees should check junk mail folders if no email is received.
